About Us

Another Way is a Cornish pioneering community inspired by Celtic Christianity and new monasticism, which seeks to creatively reimagine faith as a way of life in the 21st century.

We love Cornwall, both its people and natural environment, and we’re fascinated by the spiritual history here. In this ‘Land of Saints,’ we find inspiration in stories old and new. We run several groups in and around Truro including our weekly Sunday gathering and our monthly Kres service at the Cathedral. We also go on Pilgrimages to sacred sites in Cornwall throughout the year.

Our Values

Reconciliation

For us the story of Jesus is about reconciling all of the broken strands of our world. These are our relationship to God, with each other, with our planet, and with the image of God within us.

Resistance

Reconciliation leads to inclusive communities that use simplicity and creativity as vehicles of resistance to form the upside down kingdom of God.

Re-imagination

We are guided by the ancient practices of our faith, discovering new meaning in them for the 21st century, allowing us to find life and meaning for today.

Our Way of Life

Sabbath, Simplicity, and Silence

We embrace silence, simplicity and sabbath, as acts of resistance to the destruction and distraction of our world. What this looks like is different for each person, and we offer tools, teaching and resources for each person to build silence, simplicity and sabbath into their daily and weekly lives.

Hospitality

We serve one another and our community, through hospitality, social action and generosity. Community is founded on service, within our community, and towards our wider community. We are all encouraged to share our gifts, our time, our money and our hospitality, both with the Another Way community and through our social action, and with the wider community of Cornwall and our world.

Environmentalism

We walk and pray in the land, recognising God's presence in Creation. The Celtic saints, our foremothers and forefathers, walked this land, and as we walk in their footsteps on land and by the sea, we seek to bring the wisdom of Celtic spirituality alive in our worship, prayer and care for the planet.

Creativity

We embrace creativity, recognising God’s presence in each one of us. We welcome the creative gifts of all in our community: musicians, artists, poets, storytellers, gardeners, carers and spiritual seekers, all are welcome to share their gifts at Kres, music nights and art mornings and in the continuing growth, re-imagination, exploration and innovation of our community.

Pilgrimage

We take our inspiration from Jesus, and from the Saints of this land, telling and continuing the Cornish story of faith. We include stories of the saints in our gatherings, inspired by their courage, creativity and pioneering spirit, as we live out our own discipleship in this generation.

Worship

We meet together monthly and weekly, to pray, to learn and to be in the presence of God. Community is lived out as we meet together, on Sunday morning pilgrimages across Cornwall and at Epiphany House, Wednesday prayers at the Cathedral, and our monthly Kres creative worship services. Everyone in our community is invited to take part in, contribute to and to be blessed by these gatherings.

Listening

Community is built in relationships. Through our gatherings, and our hospitality, we seek to grow in trust and love for one another, and to live out values of openness, kindness, and gentleness as we welcome our joy and our pain, our doubts and our differences. We are an inclusive community and welcome people of all ages, wherever they are on the journey of faith, and in all their diversity.
